Eat Your Hydration With Dr. Zach Bush
Meet Dr. Zach Bush, who's made a string of appearances recently challenging everything we thought we knew about water. Forget the 8-glasses-a-day mantra; Dr. Bush is all about quality over quantity. He argues that it's not just about how much water you drink, but what kind of water you're sipping on…
But what does this mean?
According to Dr. Bush, structured water, which is water that's been organized at a molecular level, is the key to optimal hydration. This type of water is found in fruits, veggies, and even in our cells.
So how can you keep calm and stay hydrated?
🍉 Eat Your Water
By consuming fruits and vegetables high in structured water content. Think watermelon, cucumbers, and leafy greens. These foods not only hydrate you but also provide essential nutrients.
👩⚕️ The Traditionalists Weigh In
Now, before you go replacing your water filter with a fruit basket, not everyone is on board with this. Traditionalists like the Mayo Clinic and the American Heart Association are sticking to the age-old advice: drink water based on your body's needs, which can vary depending on factors like age, activity level, and climate.
Overall, while eating water-rich foods is beneficial, it shouldn't replace good old-fashioned water drinking in my opinion.
What’s your thoughts?
Age More, Drink More…
What’s one thing we all have in common? Getting older.
Yep, it's happening to all of us, whether we like it or not!
But there's something we often forget about as we age, and it's super important as mentioned above: staying hydrated! 🥤
Our bodies are pretty good at telling us when we need water. You feel thirsty, you drink, and then you get rid of the extra water through sweat or a trip to the bathroom. But the thing is, as we age, this system isn't as reliable. You might not even feel thirsty when you’re dehydrated. Do you relate?
We're talking kidney issues, high blood pressure, and even scary stuff like deep vein thrombosis. Basically, it can lead to severe symptoms and life-threatening situations. Perhaps you’ve already experienced one of the above?
So, what's the easiest way to remember to hydrate? 🤔
First, let's be proactive about sipping water throughout the day. Don't just wait until you're thirsty—by then, it might be too late. And don't forget to keep those muscles strong! 💪 Not only does it help you hold more water, but it also helps prevent accidents that could be worsened by dehydration.
