Is it Finally Time to Ditch Dairy?
Have you ever considered trying plant-based but thought you couldn't give up your beloved cheese?
Well, it’s undoubtedly a staple in many dishes, from classic pizza to gorgeous grilled cheese sandwiches, and it's hard to imagine life without it…
But exactly how does it affect our bodies and is vegan cheese is a better alternative?
Well, according to experts, cheese has a unique impact on our brains. It contains a protein called casein, which releases casomorphins, triggering the production of dopamine, the "feel-good" hormone.
This is why cheese can be so addictive!
In fact, studies have shown that foods containing cheese, like pizza, rank high on the food addiction scale. Sound familiar?
While cheese does provide protein and calcium, we know eating too much can have negative health implications due to its high saturated fat content. Saturated fat can increase cholesterol levels, including the "bad" LDL cholesterol, which is a risk factor for heart disease. Also, cheese is high in salt, which can affect heart health and blood pressure…
But this doesn’t mean you have to say goodbye to that cheesy goodness…Many brands now offer vegan cheese options that mimic the taste and texture of dairy cheese WITH the added benefits of vitamin B12. And since they don't contain casein, they lack the addictive element found in dairy cheese.
Even better… Why don’t you try making your own indulgent plant-based cheese from scratch?
I’m going to give you a FREE recipe at the bottom of this page for you to try.
I guarantee you’ll be blown away by how laughably easy it is!
Gluten-Free is Expensive: Here’s How to do it on a Budget!
Do you believe leading a gluten-free lifestyle is a costly choice? I used to think this too, especially when resorting to pricey store-bought alternatives.
However, there are ways to live a fulfilling gluten-free lifestyle without breaking the bank.
With the help of the BBC, here are some key tips:
Opt for natural alternatives: Instead of relying on costly gluten-free products, explore natural alternatives. Many foods are naturally gluten-free such as potatoes, lentils, rice noodles, and polenta. You can make flavorful dishes with alternatives like buckwheat flour, gram flour, and ground almonds.
Cook and freeze in bulk: Cooking at home allows you to control the ingredients and often proves cheaper, particularly when you buy ingredients in bulk. Freeze leftover meals to have your own budget-friendly, gluten-free ready meals.
Embrace plant-based proteins: Incorporating more plant-based proteins like lentils, chickpeas, or black beans can help to reduce costs while still ensuring nutritious meals.
Experiment with herbs and spices: With some staple herbs and spices, you can transform simple, low-cost ingredients into exciting meals.
Plan your meals: Mapping out your meals for the week allows you to shop once with a specific list, reducing costs and food waste.
Consider energy-efficient appliances: Appliances like air fryers and slow cookers can be cost-effective and versatile, broadening your meal options.
Remember, the essence of a gluten-free lifestyle is not about depriving yourself of your favorite foods, but rather about discovering new ways to enjoy them.
One key to cost-effective gluten-free living is of course to master the art of baking your own gluten-free bread. It’s not only budget-friendly but also brings joy and fulfillment to your home, plus you know EXACTLY what ingredients are inside unlike most store-bought versions.

Can You Eat Your Way to 4,000 Steps?
Worried about getting your steps in? Well, recent studies suggest that consuming a Mediterranean-style diet might add up to 4,000 steps to your daily count.
It seems eating right not only contributes to better metabolic health but also enhances your physical fitness.
It sounds too good to be true, but…
In a study published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology, a healthier diet was associated with increased physical fitness in middle-aged adults. People with better dietary scores showed a 4.5% to 5.2% greater peak rate of oxygen consumption during physical activity. Quite strikingly, these benefits were similar to adding an extra 4,000 steps each day!
This diet prioritizes vegetables, fruits, whole grains, nuts, legumes, fish, and healthy fats, while limiting red meat and alcohol consumption. The healthier the people ate, the better their metabolic health turned out to be.
However, to be transparent, the study, being observational, doesn't prove causality. It calls for more research to understand the exact relationship between a healthy diet and improved fitness.
The Mediterranean diet, known for its heart-healthy attributes, might just be the ticket to overall better fitness quality.
Are you ready to add more color to your plate with a variety of fruits and vegetables? How about minimizing your intake of land animals? If the answer is yes then I have so many recipes to show you!
Remember, a healthy diet should complement your exercise routine. Feeling overwhelmed by diet news? Take things literally ‘step-by-step’ towards a healthier life and you can’t go wrong!

Learn to Make Your Own Pistachio Milk
Sounds fancy, right? But trust me, it's so unbelievably easy…
All you need is…
Ingredients:
1 cup of raw pistachios, soaked overnight or for at least 4 hours
4 cups of filtered water
1-2 tablespoons of maple syrup (optional)
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions:
Drain and rinse the soaked pistachios.
In a blender, combine the pistachios and 4 cups of filtered water. Blend on high speed for 1-2 minutes until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Pour the mixture through a nut milk bag or cheesecloth and squeeze out as much liquid as possible.
If desired, add maple syrup and vanilla extract to taste and blend again to combine.
Transfer the pistachio milk to a glass jar or container and store in the fridge for up to 5 days.
Enjoy your homemade pistachio milk in smoothies, coffee, or on its own as a refreshing drink! Even better, as I showed you above – add it to your porridge or fav overnight oats recipe.
So, as the temperatures rise, cool down with some overnight oats topped with your newly made pistachio milk.

C King Charles has surprised many by converting his luxury vintage car, an Aston Martin MK ii DB6 Volante, to run on bio-ethanol produced from surplus English white wine and cheese whey from his Duchy of Cornwall estate. This novel fuel, known as E85, is an eco-friendly mix made up of 85% bioethanol and 15% unleaded gas. The process wasn't simple and initially met resistance from Aston Martin engineers, but Charles insisted, and the result?
